Privacy policy
FileBlaster sends files straight from one device to another. Your files never pass through our server, and we don't ask who you are.
Your files
Files go directly from the sending browser to the receiving browser over an encrypted connection. They are not uploaded to us or to anyone else, and we can't see them. File names, sizes and contents go straight to the device you send to, and only after its owner taps Accept.
What our server sees
So that devices can find each other, the page talks to our server while it's open. The server sees:
- Your network (IP) address, to show you the other devices on the same network.
- The device name you chose and the type of device (for example iPhone or Windows), which the other devices see.
- A random session number and, if you pair with a code, that code.
- Small connection messages the two browsers exchange to set up the direct connection (network addresses and encryption details, never file contents).
This is kept in memory only while the page is open and is gone within a minute of closing it. It isn't written to logs or a database.
Services we rely on
- Cloudflare delivers the website and runs the service that helps two browsers find a direct path to each other. Like any network, it sees your IP address. Cloudflare's privacy policy applies to that.
- The fonts are served by us. The page loads nothing from Google.
Stored on your device
- The device name you chose and your choice about ads, so you aren't asked every time.
- Files you receive, in the browser's private storage, until you save them. They're cleared when you close or reload the page.
Advertising and cookies
FileBlaster Web is free because it shows ads. Visitors in the UK and Europe are asked first. If you choose Accept ads, our ad partner may set cookies and use your IP address and device information to show and measure ads. Ads load in a separate frame from a different address and never see your files. If you choose No thanks, the ad partner isn't loaded. You can change your choice at any time with Ad choices.
Advertising and cookies
This site shows no ads at the moment and sets no cookies. If that changes, this section will explain it and you will be asked first.
Analytics
None. We don't track what you do on the page.
Children
FileBlaster Web is not aimed at children under 13.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask what we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. Because we keep no accounts and nothing after you leave, there's normally nothing to hand over. For anything about this policy, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
The FileBlaster app
The FileBlaster apps for phones and computers have their own policy at kbis.dev/fileblaster. The apps contain no ads.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new date.
